HGV Time Pilot is a drivers' hours and tachograph compliance toolkit, built for the cab and the desk in the same account. This post is the short version of why we built it and what's in the first release.
What it is
Two surfaces, one login:
- Android app — live shift timer with audible heads-up before key EU 561 / WTD limits, driver-card download with supported CCID readers, and quick walkaround entry.
- Web dashboard — the deep view: imports, day timelines, status (OK to drive / approaching limit / take a break), warnings and infringements, WTD reference periods on Pro, walkaround history, billing, and Time Pilot AI.
The same email and password works on both. The same data feeds both.
What it isn't
- Not a replacement for the digital tachograph or your driver card.
- Not legal advice. Time Pilot AI is a helper.
- Not a fleet-management platform. We focus on the driver first; small fleets sit naturally on top.
Why we built it
Existing tooling falls into two camps. Either it's a giant fleet-ops platform that treats the driver as a data source, or it's a tachograph download tool that stops once the file is dumped. Neither is built around the day a driver actually has.
We wanted something a driver could open at 04:30 in a layby and know what to do next.
What's in the first release
- Free tier — Android live timer, current-shift compliance hints, web dashboard orientation, and a starter quota of Time Pilot AI messages.
- Pro tier — driver-card upload across the board, full compliance suite on the web (timelines, day review, downloadable reports, WTD reference periods, rest analysis, walkaround history), and unlimited AI.

What's next
We're working on:
- A curated CCID reader list (drivers' reports welcome).
- More plain-English explainers like our EU 561/2006 walk-through.
- Better fleet-side roll-up views for owner-operators with two or three vehicles.
